COVERT, MI (WHTC) – The Palisades nuclear power plant on the Lake Michigan shoreline has shut down again, due to what officials at the facility south of South Haven claim was a “small leak” in the plant’s safety injection and refueling water tank. It holds as much as 300 thousand gallons of water for removing heat from the reactor’s core in the event of a coolant accident, along with increasing a “shutdown safety margin.”
