Magnitude 5.8 earthquake strikes off the coast of Japan

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake is reported by the USGS as having struck off the coast of Japan today. This comes after the quake on June 1, last Friday, which measured 4.6 magnitude and only 3 km WSW of Asahi, Japan. Today’s temblor at magnitude 5.8 was at a depth of 17.2 km and 79 km ESE of Ohara, Japan which is well off the coast. No damage and no injuries have been reported yet, but the continued quake activity is certain to create some apprehension in the victims of last years devastating quake and nuclear plant disasters.
